Colby is a pro drone racer and aerial cinematographer who designed the largest racing drone in the world for professional racing league DR1. In 2018, he founded VRL (Velocidrone Racing League) in order to bring organized drone races to the virtual environment.

Partnering with the premiere FPV simulator in the world, Velocidrone, Colby was able to grow the league to the point where large cash purses were being rewarded for races. VRL is now in its 7th season and has attracted world class talent from a diverse group of nationalities.

His race experience extends far past the virtual environment, having competed in professional leagues DRL, DR1 and now DCL. As part of Quadforce One, Colby will be competing in a virtual season with team USA against the best pilots in the World. In his spare time, he loves exploring Northern California with his dog and his drone. Flying drones and sharing the joy of flight with new pilots is what really gets Colby fired up!

Colby is Joining the SPIRE team as Virtual Drone Race Director and coach. His experience designing tracks, outreach to new pilots and producing races make him an invaluable part of the SPIRE drone academy team.
