SPIRE Academy and the SEED Project Forge Path to Greatness for Young Senegalese Athletes

07/13/2023

In basketball, the journey to greatness often begins while a player is still young, and this path toward achievement must be nurtured. Recognizing the need to provide growth opportunities for developing athletes, SPIRE Academy has joined forces with the SEED Project, an incredible initiative that sponsors gifted young athletes from Senegal.

This collaboration provides talented young Senegalese athletes with the chance to attend SPIRE where they will develop their athletic skills and academic ability. Through the SEED Project, these student athletes are given the support and resources they need to flourish.

Together, SPIRE’s Head of Athletics, Jeff Javorek, and the SEED Project’s leadership team, diligently scout and evaluate young players who exemplify the SPIRE culture and possess the potential to succeed at the college level. Once chosen, these promising athletes will continue to work hard and head down a transformative road that leads to achieving their athletic dreams while laying the foundation for academic and professional success.

Remarkable Progress and Achievements

The impact on SEED Project’s participants has been remarkable, and over the past year, these talented individuals have made impressive academic and athletic strides. Abdoulaye Fall, who joined SPIRE as a point guard, has secured a spot at Cloud County Community College, setting the stage for his collegiate basketball career. Abdou Aziz Yadd, currently a high school men’s player, has received offers from esteemed universities including Arizona State University, Seton Hall University, and Cleveland State University. Babacar Djiby Ly, another high school men’s player has received an offer from Cleveland State University.  Meanwhile, Ndeye Khady Leye, a high school women’s player, has piqued the interest of numerous colleges, a testament to her tremendous talent.

A Bright Future

The SEED Project envisions a future brimming with success for all of its participants. SPIRE Academy firmly believes in the potential of these student athletes to thrive both in Division I collegiate sports and also professionally. By strengthening its relationship with the SEED Project, SPIRE continues to reach out and provide a nurturing environment for players from Senegal to further develop skills and achieve their peak potential in basketball, academics and life. This collaboration reflects the Academy’s dedication to promoting the growth of sports on a global scale while firmly establishing itself as a frontrunner in basketball development across the world.
