05/10/2024

SPIRE Academy, known for its commitment to excellence in athletics and academics, proudly announces the success of its soccer program as six student athletes have committed to Rocky Mountain College in Billings, MT for their upcoming fall season.

Richard Duffy, Head Soccer Coach at Rocky Mountain College, attended a SPIRE Soccer match and recognized the talent and potential within the SPIRE team. He immediately offered spots to six deserving athletes.

The talented recruits are:

  • Paul Randello (Rosanna, Victoria, AUS)
  • Rhys Moxon (Ivanhoe, Victoria, AUS)
  • Kayne White (Rowville, Victoria, AUS)
  • Espoir Mayele (Burundi)
  • Paul Katende (Lubumbashi, Haut-Katanga, DRC)
  • Raul Ruiz Villar (Sevilla la Nueva, Madrid, ESP)

Coach Duffy shared his enthusiasm for the incoming SPIRE athletes, praising SPIRE’s world class facilities and professionalism saying “I’m extremely excited for six SPIRE Academy athletes to be joining our soccer program at Rocky Mountain College this fall. I recently had the pleasure of visiting SPIRE’s campus and was extremely impressed with the world class facilities and level of professionalism shown from the staff. I believe the student athlete experience that SPIRE provides has fully prepared these boys for the transition to collegiate athletics and a future in professional soccer.”

Rhys Moxon told us how thankful he is, explaining, “This opportunity allows me to further my education and take my soccer career to the next level. I can’t express how grateful I am to be a part of a great school and soccer program.”

Paul Katende is setting his sights on playing professionally after college. He told us, ”Soccer is my passion, and in college, I want to play my best so I can create more opportunities.”

Paul Randello shared his excitement, saying, “This opportunity means a lot to me, as it is the next step in my soccer journey. Being able to play at the next level is very exciting, and I can’t wait to play for and represent the program. Being able to play with the excellent group of lads from SPIRE is exciting, and it shows the quality of the SPIRE Academy program which I have certainly benefited from, developing into the player I am. In college, I will be playing soccer, but also studying business and furthering my education.”

SPIRE’s Head Coach and Director of Soccer, Sean Lane, spent the winter dedicated to making sure his team received the exposure it deserved. His commitment paid off and an impressive ten senior players committed to college programs, which is an exceptional accomplishment for a first-year program.

SPIRE’s approach to athlete development extends beyond the pitch, focusing on academic excellence and personal growth, in addition to training and competing. Lane holds his players to high and unwavering standards that reject shortcuts. He follows the mantra of “winning hurts.”

The commitment to fostering a family-like culture within SPIRE has been instrumental in shaping the team’s identity. Celebrating diversity and unity, the boarding school provides a home away from home for players from all over the world. Fully committed to excellence, the team members hold each other to high standards.

With graduation quickly approaching, SPIRE Academy looks forward to continuing its tradition of excellence and supporting its student athletes as they leave the school and begin the next chapter of their athletic and academic lives.

I can't express how grateful I am to be a part of a great school and soccer program.
