SPIRE Institute and Academy is proud to announce that All-Ohio point guard Tahj Staveskie will play for its post grad basketball program this season.
Staveskie, who graduated from Sandusky High, earned Player of the Year honors in District 6 of the Sandusky Bay Conference’s Lake Division. He also played for the Cleveland-based Rebels, racking up three ESPN National Championships before joining Coach Colin irish’s Sandusky Blue Streaks. During the Streaks’ 23-2 record-setting season, Staveskie averaged 26 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals per game.
Staveskie leads the Sandusky Bay Conference in scoring, shooting nearly 39% in the 3-point range. Currently averaging 28 points per game, the 6’ point guard hit a personal best earlier this year when he scored 52 points against Lexington.
“Tahj was one of the most talented and underrated players in the whole Cleveland metropolitan area this past season,” said SPIRE post grad basketball team coach Gravelle Craig. “I really feel that with a post grad year here at SPIRE he could elevate his game and increase his recruiting options to the MM+ level.”
“We’re going to work with Tahj at SPIRE to identify the colleges where he will have the best opportunities to succeed— athletically, academically and socially,” said Coach Craig. “I’m proud to say we’ve been able to connect 100% of our post grad players with options to launch their college careers.”
“I know I’m in the right place at the right time with the right people,” said Staveskie. “I’m just going to keep on working as hard as I can and taking all the opportunities I’m given until I get where I want to be. I’m a believer.”
